From June 25 until June 30 Ms. Dixon visited South Korea. During her visit to South Korea she visited Seoul and Boryeong. In addition to sightseeing, she studied the fundamentals of the Korean language with private tutors and via cultural immersion. From July 1 to July 4 Ms. Dixon had some free time and visited Hong Kong. The photo shows her posing in front of the Bruce Lee statue along the Avenue of the Stars in Hong Kong.
From July 4 to July 18 Ms. Dixon taught a professional development course at the Fujian Institute of Education in Fuzhou, China. Ms. Dixon worked with Chinese teachers of English and shared with them student-centered teaching methods that are common in the USA but not common in Chinese schools. This is the second year that Ms. Dixon has worked with Chinese teachers in Fuzhou, China. She enjoyed the summer teaching experience so much in 2013, so she returned in 2014 to participate in the same program.
From July 19-July 22 Ms. Dixon is in Tibet. The photo shows Ms. Dixon in Tibet near the border of Nepal. She reports that it was difficult to adjust to the high altitude of nearly 14,000 feet above sea level. Ms. Dixon is pictured in front of the Potala Palace. Tomorrow (7/22) she will travel to Sky Lake, Tibet, which is at approximately 21,000 feet elevation. More photos will follow!
