Day one at the Doc4Life softball tournament is complete. The Bucs took on 7A power Gainesville Buchholz in game one, falling 8-0. In the nightcap it was all Buccaneer Ball, 2014 style. Play flawless defense, pitch near perfect, keep the score 0-0………. Then boom goes the dynamite! Taking on Escambia Gators, a 6A school from Pensacola, Haley McCarthy blasted a double deep into left center plating 2 runs to start the scoring. In the 6th, Tarra Rice led off with a massive double off the left field fence and fuse was lit. Five additional runs came across the plate for the 7-0 nightcap victory. Madison Morlan went the distance for the win.
Next up: North Marion at noon on Saturday. That game completes the bracket play portion of the tournament with the hope of a berth in a medal round game.
