The Lady Bucs returned home tonight (3/5) to face the Wildcats from Wesley Chapel. Having suffered their first loss of the season to Dunedin, 6-3, the night before the girls were looking to right the ship and flex some muscle. And flex they did. Pounding out 15 safeties enroute to a 11-1 mercy rule shortened game.

The Bucs were led by Rachel Gardner (3-4, 3 RBI) and Haley “RBI” McCarthy (3-4, 3RBI). Also finding the base paths to their liking, Brittney Pressler (3-4, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Nikki Sedivy (2-3, 1 RBI), Amanda Crisafulli (2-3, 2 runs, 1 RBI).

Speaking of Amanda, donning the gear, she started her first game behind the plate, giving Nikki a much needed night off from those tough duties. But the surprise came when a “Rookie” pitcher, Rachel Gardner, took the mound to start her first high school game. Rachel got thru the first untouched but gave up 1 in the second. After the Bucs took the lead she turned the game over to Brittney Pressler to finish. Great job by Amanda & Rachel in getting the game started. (even though a certain coach was WAY TOO NERVOUS).

The win moves their record to 8-1 over all, still undefeated in SAC play. Next up are the Crusaders from Tampa Catholic on Thursday 3/6 @ 6:pm. The weather is not looking good so stay tuned for updates during the day.
