Shane Gillen, a Gulf junior, has been named the Sunshine State Scholar for Pasco County. Each school district selects its top 11th grade student for this honor. He will be recognized at an event in Orlando on Feb. 21-22. Shane was recognized by our principal, Ms. Davis, on the GHS Morning News on Nov. 5.
Also on the TV news, Mr. Rutherford, Director of Bands, congratulated Shane for being selected for the Florida All-State Band, for the third year in a row. He auditioned against hundreds of other musicians around the state, and will play in the Florida All-State 11th and 12th grade symphonic band. Shane plays the bassoon.
