The reunion held every five years for older Gulf alumni was held on March 24-25. At the event on March 25, Allan Safranek Sr. (GHS ’36), believed to be one of the two oldest alumni still living, was honored for his service in World War II by former Congressman Mike Bilirakis. They are both pictured below. The other alum from the 1930s known to be still living is Charlotte Sarment Higgins (’35), the mother of singer Bertie Higgins. She was not able to attend.
