Mrs. Barrus reports that over 70 photographs were entered in the Cotee River Annual Seafood Fest April 27-29 in New Port Richey. Students entered this contest on their own. Gulf High School students won big in the competition earning money and prize ribbons. In the Nature category: 1st place, Rachel Hagaman (12th grade), 2nd place, Gray Bigler (10th grade); Honorable Mention, Sara Trentch (9th grade). In the People category: 1st place Vivian Mantzarinis; 2nd place, Rachel Hagaman; Honorable Mention, Rachel Hagaman (both 12th grade).
An Artistic Discovery is a show sponsored by Rep. Gus Bilirakis on display at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art in Tarpon Springs until May 27. Ten Gulf students were entered in photography. Jonathan Martinez (11th grade) won $100 in addition to the Award of Merit. Honorable Mention: Gray Bigler (10th grade).
Mrs. Barrus also reports that IB VA Photography students are participating in a photography show with the Pasco County E-school Photography students May 4-30 at the Progress Energy Art Gallery on Grand Blvd. in downtown New Port Richey.
