Watching the boys basketball game Friday night are Les Snyder, a retired Gulf science teacher, and Stefano Trompeo, a 1998 Gulf graduate and the all-time third highest scoring boys basketball player in GHS history. Trompeo scored 1024 points at Gulf. For the past four seasons Stefano has been head coach of the New York University women’s basketball team, and was an assistant for the previous five. He resigned the position last year. Les Snyder is a 1965 graduate of Gulf High School, but did not play basketball. He did play football and was the salutatorian of his class.
