Gene Robinson, who has taught math at Gulf High School since January 1980, will retire at the end of the school year.

This year he taught Algebra I and Algebra I-A.

When he started at Gulf he was 30 years old. He was hired by principal Larry Robison. Five of his children graduated from Gulf, and two of them were students in his classroom.

He also taught college math, professional development, and accounting for 18 years at Webster College while teaching at Gulf.

Mr. Robinson says he has enjoyed his 40 years in the classroom and plans to spend more time with his children and grandchildren, do some traveling with his wife Denise, and perhaps work part-time.

He was born in Jersey City, N. J., and attended Toms River High School. He graduated from Monmouth College in 1972 with a B. S. degree in business and mathematics. He taught for six years at Toms River High School North before moving to Florida.

It is thought that only three teachers have been at Gulf longer than Mr. Robinson. They are Mr. Mayer, Mr. Rebensky, and Mr. Barrus.
