Gulf junior Kris Stolarczyk recently represented Gulf High School in the Poetry Out Loud competition in Tallahassee. Each contestant must memorize and be ready to perform three poems from a list of hundreds written by established poets. Ms. Ledman reports: Kris made it through ROUND 1 with his suave rendition of Billy Collins’s “Fishing on the Susquehana.” Kris wowed the judges in ROUND 2 with his Cockney version of John Donne’s “The Canonization.” Then Kris placed in the top ten with his sultry performance of “The Way It Sometimes Is” by Henry Taylor.
