Kathy Trapp, our career specialist, who has been at Gulf for 20 years, will retire at the end of the school year.
Mrs. Trapp is also the IB CAS coordinator and is in charge of student volunteers at Gulf. She serves on the school’s leadership team.
She worked as a guidance counselor at Ridgewood for 11 years before coming to Gulf, and earlier taught health and PE in Pinellas County for 5 years.
She majored in PE at the University of Florida and also earned a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling at USF. Mrs. Trapp was born in Austin, Texas, and came to Florida at age 8.
She is married to Stan Trapp, the principal of Gulf Middle School. He does not plan to retire now, however. They have plans for a trip to Ireland and England. They have two sons, ages 22 and 23. One will be getting married in November.
