Good morning, Bucs. This is Mr. Morgenstein with important information regarding Hurricane Idalia. As of 8am this morning, the storm is south of us, beginning to enter the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Forecasters expect the storm to move quickly as it travels mostly north. Right now, landfall is expected to occur in the Big Bend area to our north, but that can change if the storm takes a turn to the east or west.
Pasco County Schools are closed Tuesday and Wednesday and all events cancelled. We expect to reopen on Thursday. School updates are posted at https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/weather.
Pasco County Emergency Management officials have issued a mandatory evacuation for people in Zone A, anyone in a mobile home or RV, and anyone living in a low-lying area. Currently, there is a voluntary evacuation order for Zones B and C. That will likely become mandatory as the storm approached the Tampa Bay region.

Shelters are opening now and throughout the morning. In our area, they are currently:
-The Fasano Center, 11611 Denton Avenue, Hudson (special needs)
-Fivay High School, 12115 Chicago Avenue in Hudson
-River Ridge Middle & High School, 11646 Town Center Road in New Port Richey
-Sunlake High School, Land O’ Lakes
-Wiregrass Ranch High School, Wesley Chapel
-Centennial Middle School, Zephyrhills
Shelters are designed for safety – not for comfort. You will receive some meals, but that is limited. You will be assigned floor space in a classroom or hallway. Please bring essentials such as baby food and care items, non-perishable food and snacks, blankets and pillows. If you pack other items in your car, you must leave them locked there. There is no space for non-essentials inside the shelters. All shelters allow family pets. Bring what you need for them and care for them in designated areas only. Clean up after your pet.
PROHIBITED: Drugs, alcohol, vapes, tobacco products, and weapons are NOT permitted in the shelters. Law enforcement will be present to address any problematic behavior.

Es el Señor Morgenstein con informaciones importantes relacionadas con el Huracán Idalia. Desde las 8am esta mañana, la tormenta se ubica al sur de la Florida y empieza entrar en el Golfo de México donde encontrará aguas calientes. Los meteorológicos anticipan que la tormenta viajará al norte con rapidez. Ahora mismo, la recalada estaría en la región Big Bend al norte de nuestra área. Sin embargo, es posible que la senda cambie con una gira al este u oeste.

Los refugios existen para la seguridad y no para comodidad. Se reciben ciertas comidas, pero es limitado. El gerente del refugio le asigna a la familia espacio en el pisa de un salón de clase o en el corredor. Lleve con su familia todo necesario para cuidar a los bebés, alimentos y meriendas no perecederos, mantas y almohadas. Todo lo que pone en su carro debe permanecer allí – no hay espacio dentro del refugio. Se aceptan mascotas en todos los refugios, pero la familia tiene que llevar lo que necesitan cuidar a la mascota, utilizar el sector designado para ellas, y limpiar el suelo.
PROHIBIDOS: Drogas, alcohol, vapes, productos de tabaco, y armas de toda forma están totalmente prohibidos en los refugios anti-huracanes. La policía estará presente para abordar a los que violan los reglamentos del refugio y de la ley.
Este huracán causa circunstancias serias en nuestra región y es importante que todo el mundo haga lo necesario para proteger su casa y a sus familiares.
