Thirty-five band members participated in ‘H.O.T. Day’ at USF on Aug. 31. Mr. Rutherford writes, “We spent the day with the USF Herd of Thunder (better known as the HOT Band). The students rehearsed along side the 320 piece HOT Band as well as over 800 students from surrounding counties. Later in the day, we traveled to Raymond James Stadium where our band and color guard members performed in part of the halftime show. In total, there were 1284 people on the field during halftime! It was awesome!”
The second photo shows GHS band director Bill Rutherford with daughter Elizabeth (GHS ’12) and his youngest daughter Brittany (now a freshman at GHS) before the two girls went on the field to perform at H. O. T. Day. Elizabeth is a member of the HOT Band and this was the first time that the 2 sisters performed a halftime show together. Elizabeth is a Mass Communications major at USF.
