Gulf turned in an impressive performance to win the 1A-10 district championship at Indian Rocks Christian.
With only 12 wrestlers competing, Gulf dominated, putting 10 wrestlers in the finals. Gulf had six champions, and all 12 wrestlers placed, allowing each of them to advance to the regionals Saturday at Berkeley Prep.
The Gulf champions were Anthony Agazarm (120), Austin Smith (145), Jacob Newman (152), Spencer Baxter (160), Jarred Kruse (182) and Kenny Hayes (220).
Agazarm really stood out to coach Travis DeWalt, as he pinned state-ranked Michael Gingras of Indian Rocks Christian in the first round of the championship match.
