The new iOS6 operating system for the Apple iPhone and iPad has come under some criticism because the new operating system replaced Google maps with Apple’s own maps, which some say are not as good. To settle the argument once and for all, we present below the Google map (top photo) showing the Gulf High School area and the iOS6 map (bottom photo). Notice that the Google map shows our main building, the stadium, tennis court, and baseball field. The iOS6 map labels our school Gulf Comprehensive High School, the name that was in use in the 1970s and 1980s, and fails to show the other features of our campus. However, to be fair, Google maps labeled our building “Gulf Jr. High School” until last year when we contacted Google and asked them to update the name. Also iOS6 has nice aerial views shot from airplanes and helicopters and our campus can be seen here.
