This past Saturday (March 1), senior Gabriela DeLeon traveled to Tallahassee to compete against more than 40 participants in the Poetry Out Loud recitation competition.
After winning first place at the Gulf High School competition last month, Gabriela memorized and learned to perform a total of three poems in order to prepare for the state-level competition.
Mrs. Ledman writes, “GABRIELA made it to the final round, and then was selected to be in the TOP TEN! This is a tremendous accomplishment for the only Pasco County student to participate. This is a new talent that Gabriela has recently discovered, and she had a great time in Tallahassee with other poetry lovers. I hope Gabriela will go on to involve herself in more poetry events and competitions in college, and in her adult life. She’s got talent!”
We hope to have a video of her performance soon.
