Dr. Steve Knobl, who has been principal of Gulf High School since 2008, has resigned his position to become Dean of Academic Affairs at the New Port Richey campus of Rasmussen College. His last official day at Gulf High School will be April 12.

On March 21, before his hiring was official, he told the faculty in an email that he would likely be leaving, writing, “It has not been an easy decision to for me because we have so many initiatives and goals in action at this time at GHS. Ultimately, the projected financial package and future opportunities for advancement with Rasmussen College convinced my family that it was worth consideration at this time.”

In an email last night, he told the faculty, “The vision of the College mirrors the school district in many ways. Now that it is official, I wanted you to hear it from me and not from someone else. The students and staff of GHS will always be near and dear to me. I wish you all the very best in the future. Thank you for being supportive of my career promotion.”

Dr. Knobl has been employed by the Pasco County school district in several capacities. Before coming to Gulf he was the principal of Bayonet Point Middle School and an assistant principal at Land O’ Lakes High School and Gulf Middle School. He also has been a teacher at Richey Elementary School, River Ridge Middle School, and J. W. Mitchell High School. He earned his doctorate while at Gulf.
