It was a chilly night at the ole ball yard and it was apparent in the Buccaneers bats. Academy of Holy Names travelled to Rudy Snyder field to face Gulf in a non conference-non district match up hoping to upset the undefeated Bucs. Jumping out to a 3-0 lead after 4 innings the Lady Bucs switched on the microwave of an offense and put up 12 unanswered runs for a 12-3 victory.
Brittney Pressler took the mound and went 5 innings for her second win of the 2014 season. The offense was led by the dynamic duo, The McCarthy Twins, Haley and Hanna who combined for 5 hits, 5 runs and 4 RBI’s. Haley put the Bucs on top with a booming triple to center in the 5th. Hanna added to the score with a cannon shot double to right center in the 6th. Getting a late start, subbed into the game in the 5th inning, Tarra Rice went 2 for 2 with a double and triple plating 3 runs.
The win keeps the Bucs perfect thru 6 played. The week concludes with a visit by Weeki Wachee on Friday. JV starts the night with their game at 6:pm. The varsity will immediately follow at 8:pm. Here’s another chance to come out watch the hardest working team on the west side. See ya at the park!
