Here are some pictures from the Great Persons Roundtable held in the Media Center on Jan. 10. Students in Mrs. Alwood’s AP European History class presented this event.

Mrs. Alwood writes, “The AP European History students have worked very hard to first do a research project on an era, event or person in the 19th or 20th century and now to make that come to life with a character in their era or event. They will be in costume and character, sitting down with other characters in different eras to talk about issues in each era and to respond to each other. (It is based on the PBS show).

“Characters include: Widow in Bosnia in 1990s; Catholic woman in Belfast 1960 with IRA and Orangemen terrorists groups; Leon Trotsky; George Marshall; Brazilian feminist in early 20th century; Robert Oppenheimer of Manhattan Project; Rachel Carson of environmental scientist and activist fame; Mustafa Kemal; Ho Chi Minh; Woodrow Wilson; Robert Schumann of first stage of EU; peasant in mid-19th century France when Napoleon III was ruling; Auschwitz prisoner; a designer from Coco Chanel’s couture house which revolutionized women’s fashions in the 1920s and beyond; Gorbachev; Russian peasant who was at the 1906 Bloody Sunday and the Bolshevik revolution and more.”
