Gulf High School won the Commissioner’s Academic Challenge—more commonly known as the Brain Bowl—at the school district headquarters today. It’s the second year in a row Gulf has won the event. Our students will again participate in the statewide competition, which will be held this year on April 20-22 at the Contemporary Resorts in Disney World. Jena Ferry, the coach (far left in the photograph) said that the students answer questions in the humanities, social sciences, science, math, foreign language, literature, grammar, technology, art, and music. She reported that in the first round Gulf finished in first place with 200 points followed by Pasco with 175. The championship round consisted of Ridgewood, Wesley Chapel, Gulf, and Pasco. Ridgewood received an Honorable Mention with 136 points, Pasco took third at 159 points, Wesley Chapel placed second at 164 points, and Gulf finished first with 243 points.
