Sherie Howard, who joined the Gulf faculty in March 2012, will retire at the end of the school year after having taught for 26 years.

She has taught mostly English, although this past year she taught Critical Thinking, Career Research, and Inquiry Skills. The courses are within the English department. The Inquiry Skills course was taken by pre-IB students.

Ms. Howard previously taught at Gulf in 1990-91 and 1991-92. She was then transferred to Gulf Middle, then to Pasco High, and then to Land O’ Lakes, where she taught for 15 years before returning to Gulf.

Ms. Howard has a B. A. degree in English Education from UCF and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Luis University. She was born in Detroit and graduated from North Fort Myers High School. She has two adult children.

When the school year is over, she plans to travel around the U. S. and Mexico by car. Then, after living in New Port Richey for 26 years, she will probably resettle elsewhere in the U. S.
