Debi Pitcock, who has taught Geometry Honors to our pre-IB students, has retired after teaching in Pasco County for 37 years.

Ms. Pitcock began her teaching career in 1974 at Gulf Junior High School, teaching Spanish and French.

In 1980 she transferred to Land O’ Lakes High School, becoming the department chairperson for the foreign languages department. She originally taught Spanish but switched to mathematics in 1982 because it was a critical shortage area at the time.

In the 1995-96 school year she taught Algebra to 8th graders at Bayonet Point Middle School.

From 1996 to 2006 she taught at Ridgewood High School. She taught math and gifted students at Ridgewood.

In 2006 she came to Gulf High School, where she has mainly taught Geometry Honors to students who were expected to enter our International Baccalaureate program, although she also taught Spanish in her first year here. She has also been the gifted resource teacher for the last two years.

Ms. Pitcock has also taught Adult Ed for 15 years, at Ridgewood, Gulf, and Marchman.

Deborah Snyder was born in Battle Creek, Michigan. She graduated from L’Anse Creuse High School in Mount Clemens, Michigan, and then earned a B. S. degree in Spanish Education from The Ohio State University. She also earned an M. Ed. degree in Educational Administration from the University of Tampa.

Ms. Pitcock says that in retirement she plans to play golf and cards, float in the pool, volunteer at her church, and spend a lot of time with her beloved family, friends, and puppy dogs.
