Gulf wrestlers surprise with a second-place finish

Gulf hosted the 9th annual Holiday Dual Tournament this past weekend, with 21 schools from all over central Florida participating. Coach Dewalt writes, “The secret is out. We are in a rebuilding year, but wrestled well enough to get into the finals by upsetting #1 seed Dunedin High School. The Bucs faltered to #2 seed Fivay in the Championship Round. Despite finishing second, the tournament went well. Any time you get the opportunity to bring significant revenue and positive exposure to the school and community, it’s a good thing.” The Bucs will be traveling to Baton Rouge, La., on December 27-31 to compete in the Southern Duals.
