Gulf High School International Baccalaureate senior Allison Segard was awarded the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement Award in a ceremony in our Media Center today (9/28).

Allison is an IB transfer student from Franklin High School in Franklin, TN. The award was sent to her old school and the ROTC instructor there asked the Gulf High ROTC program to present it to her.

Only 60 of the awards are given nationally each year and the award can only be presented by a military veteran who earned a Medal of Valor during their service.

Allison received her award from Michael Perry, a a Distinguished Service Cross recipient from the Vietnam War. Others in the pictures are Allison’s parents, Tim and Dawn Segard, Pasco County School Superintendent Kurt Browning, school district official Tammy Berryhill, GHS Principal Kim Davis, and the Commander of Gulf’s NJROTC unit, CMDR John McGuire.
