On Sept. 23, 2016, Gulf High School alum Charles “Chuck” Pitcock was honored at halftime of the football game, and his football jersey number was retired. Pitcock died in January. He graduated from Gulf in 1976. He played football for Gulf and professionally for the Tampa Bay Bandits and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A video of the ceremony is here.
