Bruno Buonsanto, the instructional assistant in charge of discipline for our 11th and 12th graders, has been named our SRP of the Year.
Ms. Davis made the announcement this morning.
Mr. Buonsanto is also the Gulf High School Athletic Director, and this year has been the interim head football coach, stepping after Coach Messamore resigned for health reasons. He is also the girls basketball coach.
Mr. Buonsanto is an alumnus of Gulf High, having graduated in 1989. His children have all attended GHS.
He is a Navy veteran, having served in Desert Storm/Shield on board the USS Midway CV-41 (Air Craft Carrier forward deployed Yokosuka, Japan). Mr. Buonsanto worked previously for Waste Management Inc. and managed a construction landfill in Hudson. After leaving the waste disposal industry and before joining the Gulf High staff in 2008, he was employed by Data-tron Communications as a project manager. He played 3 years of semi-pro football and 4 years of arena football for the AIFA (Gulf Coast Raiders), NIFL (Florida Knights), and the APFL (Florida Scorpions).
