On the next-to-last day of school, photographer Angela Goldstein took some pictures of our foreign exchange student Jiayi Xu, who is from Xi’an, China. Jiayi says she has enjoyed living in the United States this year. She was an 11th grader at Gulf but has graduated from high school in China. She says school is easier here than in China. She says she began learning English at about age 8, and that most students in China learn English. She hopes to become an accountant or work in finance or marketing. She lived this year with Jason and Patti Joens and their 8th grade daughter. Mr. Joens in the principal of Gulf Middle School and Mrs. Joens is the secretary to the principal of Gulf High School.
