Sharon Oster, who has taught at Gulf High School since the 1994-95 school year, will retire this month. Her last day at school will be the Friday before Thanksgiving break.

Mrs. Oster taught business education each year except for the last two years, when she has taught reading. She sponsored FBLA for 18 years and is in the Florida FBLA Hall of Fame. Other than substitute teaching for a short time, she has spent her entire teaching career at Gulf High School.

Before becoming a teacher, she managed a law office in Tampa for 10 years. Earlier, she was a legislative liaison for the Virginia House of Delegates. She was born in Winchester, Virginia, and graduated from John Handley High School there. She has an associate business degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a business education degree from USF. She has sons with families in both Winchester, Virginia, and Land O’ Lakes, Florida.
