There is a new club at GHS and co-president Shanet Kaithathra submitted this information abut it.

The name of the club is coined from the phrase “America is a meting pot.” In this cub every month we celebrate various festivals and holidays from different cultures from around the world. The purpose of the club is for other students to experience unique cultures outside their comfort zone. For example, for octuber we are celebrating an Indian festival called Diwali. Diwali is the festival of light, so we are decorating some parts of the the school with lights. Diwali is on Oct. 23 (Thursday) and we are fundraising by decorating some teachers’ classrooms by putting up lights for $5. The lights will stay in the classrooms for Tuesday and Wednesday. On Wednesday afterschool the lights will be taken down from the classrooms and would be used to decorate the cafeteria so it can be displayed on Thursday Oct.23. We would also have a big sign in front of the cafeteria and a video will be aired on Thursday’s news with the members of Melting Pot talking about Diwali. These kinds of celebrations will be done every month depending on the festival/holiday we are celebrating. P.s. We are still taking members, so if anyone is interested talk to the co-presidents, Shanet Kaithathra and Gabi Diaconu, who are pictured.
