Pirman and Carr head the Class of 2001

David Pirman and Barbara Carr have been named the valedictorian and salutatorian of the Gulf High School class of 2001.

David Pirman plans to attend the University of Florida and major in Chemistry/Pre-Med. He hopes to become an orthopedic surgeon. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and Interact. He is a son of Mark and Brenda Henderson of New Port Richey.

Barbara Carr says she will most likely attend Florida Southern College and major in elementary education. She is President of the National Honor Society and a member of the German Club and Christians in Action. She is a daughter of Tim and Nancy Carr of New Port Richey.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, both students are outstanding athletes. Barbara was the top runner in the Sunshine Athletic Conference in each of her four years at Gulf and was named the Pasco Times runner of the year. David was defensive captain of the Gulf varsity football team this year. He was on the varsity football team two years and the JV team two years.
