Tran and Muñoz head the Class of 2007

Thanh Tran and Jonathan Muñoz have been named valedictorian and salutatorian for the Gulf High School class of 2007. Mr. Imerson made the announcement today.

Thanh, the valedictorian, is the daughter of My Tran and lives in New Port Richey. She was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and came to the United States in 1999. She attended Lealman Elementary School, Meadowlawn Middle School, and (briefly) Lakewood High School, all in St. Petersburg, before transferring to Gulf. She plans to attend USF and major in business accounting. She is vice president of the Math Honor Society, treasurer of the National English Honor Society, treasurer of the Spanish Honor society, and a member of Interact. She has been in the Color Guard and the NJROTC drill team. Her GPA is 4.3043. She has worked at a nail salon owned by her sister.

Jonathan, the salutatorian, is the son of Elizabeth Muñoz and lives in Port Richey. He was born in Mazatlan, Mexico, and came to the United States four years ago. He attended Gulf Middle school for about six weeks before becoming a ninth grade student at Gulf High School. He plans to attend the University of Florida and major in architecture and minor in interior design. He hopes to become an architect. Jonathan is president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the French Honor Society, historian of Future Business Leaders of America, and a member of the Math Honor Society and National English Honor Society. His GPA is 4.273. He is an outstanding athlete, and has played football, soccer, and tennis. He works as a server at Chili’s.
