A fairy ring was discovered on the football practice field today by Chris Mosher. According to Wikipedia, a fairy ring, also known as fairy circle, elf circle or pixie ring, is a naturally occurring ring or arc of mushrooms. The rings may grow over ten meters in diameter. Fairy rings also occupy a prominent place in European folklore as the location of gateways into elfin kingdoms, or places where elves gather and dance. Our GHS fairy ring seems to be above-average in size and roundness, as it compares favorably to many pictured on the Internet. Photo by Chris Mosher.
